Beau Brodbeck is an Assistant Director of Field Operations with Auburn University Extension and Affiliate Faculty in the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment at Auburn University. Beau holds a PhD in Forestry and is an Alabama Registered Forester and ISA Certified Arborist. Over the past twenty years Beau has worked in various facets of forest and urban forest management developing educational outreach programs to serve Alabama stakeholders. This deep experience with stakeholders has influenced his research, which is focused on human dimensions of forest management as well as migrant labor within the forest industry. Beau has conducted research on U.S. H-2 and Canadian TFWP visas to understand the impacts programs have on worker livelihoods, challenges experienced by workers and employers and look for opportunities to improve visa programs for all stakeholders. Beau’s interest in migrant labor research originates from being born and raised in Guatemala and having managed H-2B crews early in his career.
