Urban Lehner, a Farm Foundation Roundtable Fellow since 2008, is a journalist. Since retiring in 2012 as vice president/editorial of DTN/The Progressive Farmer, he has blogged for DTN under the rubric "An Urban's Rural View." He is a past president of the North American Agricultural Journalists and was named "Writer of the Year" by the American Agricultural Editors Association in 2009.

Prior to joining DTN in 2003 as editor-in-chief, Lehner spent 33 years with The Wall Street Journal as a reporter, editor and executive, including five years in Washington, 17 years in Tokyo and Hong Kong and three in Brussels. His most recent WSJ positions were as vice president/business development in New York and Publisher and Executive Editor of The Asian Wall Street Journal in Hong Kong.

Lehner was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has a BA in history from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Georgetown University. From 1970 to 1972 he served as a minesweeping and supply officer in the U.S. Navy.

Lehner and his wife Nancy Leonard split their time between Vancouver, WA, and Newport, Oregon.
