School: Kansas State University
Major: Agricultural Economics
Kylie Bedel of Evansville, Indiana, is pursuing a master’s degree in agricultural economics at Kansas State University. Her research examines how rail and barge freight rates influence grain movements from the Midwest to New Orleans and corn and soybean exports through the port.
She serves as social chair for the Graduate Students of Agricultural Economics Club, leadership co-chair for the Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Beef Group, and a fellow in the Risk Management Center. Kylie also captained K-State’s world championship team in the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association Case Study Competition. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in marketing and sales with a railroad or barge company, combining her interest in transportation with helping customers meet their shipping needs.
