Matthew Johnston leads Syngenta’s Global Vegetable Seed and Flower business from Downers Grove, IL, a suburb of Chicago. He is passionate about developing and promoting innovation in seeds that helps farmers overcome the challenges they face worldwide. Matthew gained early professional experience in the family citrus business in South Florida and has spent the past 25 years in the vegetable seed industry, including various senior roles in sales, marketing and general management at leading companies in the industry.

Prior to joining Syngenta in 2017 he was the CEO of HM.CLAUSE, a global vegetable seed company owned by Group Limagrain. Matthew holds a BS from University of Wyoming, earned his MBA from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and is a graduate of the Wedgeworth Leadership Institute at the University of Florida.
