Dr. Elena Rice is the Chief Science Officer at Genus PLC, a global leader in animal genetics.  Genus’s technologies are commercialized in the genetic sectors of dairy, beef (under the trademark 'ABS'), and pork (under trademark 'PIC'). Since joining Genus in 2019, Dr. Rice has led the company’s efforts to advance genetic improvements through cutting-edge technologies, including biosystem engineering, gene editing, reproductive biology, and genome science, focusing on enhancing animal health, productivity, and sustainability.  Before joining Genus, Dr. Rice spent 18 years in increasingly senior roles within Monsanto/Bayer, where she honed her skills in translating scientific advancements into practical applications.

Dr. Rice served as a Board Member for BIO Agriculture and Environment Section Governing Board Directors  (2020-2023) and currently represents Genus PLC on the Founding Members Steering Committee for Greener Cattle Initiative.

Dr. Rice earned her PhD in Plant Biology from the Timiryazev Institute of Plant Physiology in Moscow, Russia.
