Luis is currently the Regulatory Science Lead at Gates Ag One, providing regulatory support to collaboration partners in projects aimed at developing products for small holder farmers in Africa. Luis is a leader with more than 18 years’ regulatory experience within the agricultural industry having joined Monsanto/Bayer in 2006 where his career focused on regulatory science. He dedicated the first nine years to generating protein safety data for biotech products and leading different teams. The last nine years focused on regulatory affairs, leading teams to develop and execute global regulatory submission strategies to support biotech product approvals and launches in multiple geographies. He also influenced policy globally working with agencies, growers, and industry associations around the world to ensure freedom to operate and streamlined regulatory requirements to accelerate the application and adoption of innovative technology. During his last year at Bayer, he was leading the regulatory affairs team for crop protection products in North America.
