Meet the Organizers
GAP Initiative at Virginia Tech - The Global Agriculture Productivity (GAP) Initiative at Virginia Tech brings together expertise from the private sector, NGOs, Virginia Tech and other universities, and global research institutions to create data-driven policy change, catalyze investment, and increase access to tools that will contribute to sustainable agricultural productivity growth in all world regions. The GAP Initiative is housed within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Global Programs Office at Virginia Tech and is led by Dr. Tom Thompson and Dr. Jessica Agnew.
At the heart of the GAP Initiative is the GAP Report®. It is the premier source of productivity data, analysis and policy recommendations to inspire action. In collaboration with our partners in the private sector, NGOs, conservation organizations, universities, and global research institutions, our annual report and year-round engagement provides a roadmap toward progress.
ERS shapes its research programs and products to serve those who routinely make or influence public policy and program decisions. To support its research on agricultural research and productivity, ERS routinely publish measures of U.S. and International agricultural productivity, agricultural research investment, and evidence-based research reports.
