A novel initiative led by GFFPI in late 2023 brought together representatives from OECD countries and OECD Secretariat as well as industry experts from across Europe, North America, Japan, and Australia to discuss the role of trade and agriculture sustainability in an interactive and thought-provoking format. The workshop, held at the OECD in Paris, enabled stakeholders from around the world to identify common goals and priorities.
More than 80 participants engaged in dynamic discussions on actionable solutions, including creating a global platform for knowledge exchange, better integrating outcome-based approaches in trade policy, and developing shared indicators to measure progress.
The next workshop in this series, Measuring Sustainability Outcomes to Facilitate Agricultural Trade, was held held in Washington D.C. on 18 July 2024, focusing in on measuring sustainability outcomes to facilitate agricultural trade – a priority identified in the previous workshop outcomes, as described in this summary paper. During this workshop, participants converged on a path forward and identified areas of opportunity for trade and agricultural sustainability can work together.
On 7 October 2025, we will meet to discuss Finding Common Ground in a Divided World: Trade, Sustainability and Innovation.
