Terrie Bates is a water resource professional with a focused interest on the relationship between water management operations and ecological systems, water supply and flood control. She worked for the South Florida Water Management District for 35 years; most recently as the Water Resources Division Director where for 10 years she headed up the District’s science, water quality and water supply programs.  Her areas of responsibility included ecological research and monitoring of the Kissimmee River, Lake Okeechobee, Everglades, Florida Bay, coastal estuaries and the stormwater treatment areas.  She is now President of Water Resources Consulting Inc., working primarily with clients in the water supply and agricultural sector, and an Adjunct Professor at Broward College.
